Indus valley civiliza′tion, 
  1. Archaeologyan ancient civilization that flourished in the Indus River valley, from about 2500 to 1500 b.c.: extensive archaeological excavations at the main sites of Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa in Pakistan. Also called Indus civilization.
